Step into the maze and relive a true icon of gaming history. Released by Namco in 1980, Pac-Man is widely considered one of the most influential video games of all time. It single-handedly created the maze chase genre and introduced the world to the first and most recognizable video game mascot.
The game's premise is simple: navigate Pac-Man through a maze, eating all the pac-dots while avoiding four colorful ghosts—Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Clyde. Turning the tables on the ghosts by eating a Power Pellet is one of the most satisfying moments in all of gaming. Its cultural impact is immeasurable, spawning countless sequels, merchandise, and even an animated television series.
How to Play & Pro Tips
- Objective: The goal is to clear the maze of all the small dots (pac-dots) while avoiding the ghosts.
- Controls: Use the arrow keys to guide Pac-Man through the maze. He will continue in a direction until he hits a wall.
- The Ghosts: Each of the four ghosts has a unique "personality" or algorithm. Blinky (red) is an aggressive pursuer, while Pinky (pink) tries to ambush you. Learning their patterns is key.
- Power Pellets: The four large, flashing dots in the corners of the maze are Power Pellets. Eating one will temporarily turn the ghosts blue, allowing you to eat them for extra points!
- Bonus Fruit: Periodically, bonus fruits will appear near the center of the maze. Eat them for a significant point boost.
- Use the Tunnels: The tunnels on the sides of the maze will transport you from one side of the screen to the other. Use them to escape tricky situations.
- Master the Corners: Making tight turns around corners is a crucial skill. A well-timed turn can be the difference between survival and getting caught.
